For the drillers in North Dakota, things seem to be stabilizing at just over 1 million barrels per day of oil production. The number of active drilling rigs has been bouncing around 50 for quite a while. Drillers have been able to keep production up compared to prior years because their efficiency has steadily improved. Over the last few years total expected production over the life of a well drilled has risen substantially. With many of the new wells projected to produce over 1 million barrels of oil over their lifetime.
